How do you like to spend your free time?

Open water swimming, mountain biking in the Welsh hills, or yoga in the garden!

When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

A vet! And I was lucky enough to become one too. I worked as an equine vet in the UK and Australia for 12 years before having kids and then moving back here to start up Plas Dinam.

What’s the best concert you have been to?

Radio Head in Manchester in 2019, shortly after Ed O’Brien recorded his album at PD. (We didn’t tell him we were going though.)

‘We had Tyson’s unflappable help getting everything ready – which included moving 100 chairs from the driveway to dining room when the heavens decided to open 15 minutes before our ceremony, he cannot be thanked enough.’

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Kind, hardworking, forgetful.

What weird food combinations do you really enjoy?

Salt and pepper on crumpets- try it, it’s delicious!

What is something you love doing? Why?

Working hard on a project with the kids, either making something in the shed, or improving
the garden or woodland. The feeling of achieving something with them is great, and the
physical tiredness at the end of the day is satisfying!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Very much a morning person! I am usually in bed by 9pm. I love the early mornings especially in the summer to get up and be outside before anyone in my house is up.

If I handed you a plane ticket right now to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would head straight to Nepal to hike some of their mountains. I had the trip planned in 2019, but family things came up, so the trip has been postponed, but I will go one day…

What is your favourite thing to do locally?

In the summer I love going up to Bala lake swimming in the early evening with a picnic, or going over to Aberdyfi beach for icecream and sea swims.

‘Katie was our designated wedding coordinator and she was amazing. She was calm and completely unflappable and gave us an enormous confidence in how the day would run and was there for us every step of the way and she threw herself into any role required over the weekend.’

What’s your favourite season?

Definitely Autumn; preparing for chillier days to wrap up warm. The rich warm colours especially at PD.  

If you were a cocktail which one would you be?

Espresso Martini 

Sophisticated, sociable, and fun. Enjoy the right balance of a smooth routine with a punch of spontaneity.  A seeker of perfection!

What is your favourite type of cuisine?

Spanish, I could eat paella everyday!

What’s the best place you have travelled to?

Antarctica, I am usually a sun worshipper but Antarctica is a magical place.  Seeing the icebergs filled with hoards of penguins going about their daily business was fabulous.

What’s your favourite food?

Cheese, cheese and more cheese and if you can team it with wine even better.

What’s your favourite movie?

Pretty Woman – I know every line.  I just need Richard Gere and I could do the whole movie

What is on your bucket list?

I would like to see the giant sequoias in Yosemite USA

What’s your favourite season?

My favourite season is spring, everything bursting into life is just wonderful.

Are you a coffee person or a tea person?

I’m a tea person for sure. Yorkshire tea of course, being from god’s own county myself.

What’s the best book you have read recently?

The Folklore of Wales, by Delyth Badder & Mark Norman

Do you have a favourite song to listen to when you need your spirits lifted?
